Issuance of Certificates of Completion

We know the anxiety that teens feel when nearing the time they are able obtain a driver's license!  New drivers want to receive the driver's license just as soon as they are eligible.  We felt the same way when we were 16 years old!

In accordance with State law, Certificates of Completion are issued once a teen student has completed all 24 hours of classroom instruction (whether in-person, online or virtual), successfully passed the course written final exam, and completed the 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training.  The State of Ohio requires by law [OAC 4501-7-11 (B) (2)] for Certificates to be issued in the order that students complete.

Please know that we work to issue Certificates of Completion just as rapidly as we are able and we do this at all times.

We have 4 locations, across two counties, with nearly a dozen instructors on the road.  Sometimes it takes more than just 12-24 hours for completed student information to be submitted by our staff of driving instructors to our central office in Oxford wherein the Certificates of Completion are issued.  Additionally, the State of Ohio restricts the issuance of Certificates of Completion to only School Owners and/or State-certified training managers.  For this reason, not all of our staff of driving instructors are certified to issue Certificates of Completion.  Our School Owner and training managers are also full-time driving instructors, some working primarily out of locations other than Oxford, and as a result they are not in the central office every day.

Certificates of Completion are not issued each business day in which we have office hours.  It generally takes 7-10 days for Certificates of Completion to be issued.  Expect a period of up to 2 weeks after the student’s date of completion for the U.S. Postal Service to deliver the Certificate of Completion to your mailbox.

It is our recommendation that students do not schedule a driving exam until the student has completed the 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training and also has received in the mail the Certificate of Completion.  If a student has scheduled a driving exam prior to receiving the Certificate of Completion then the student should be prepared for the potential that the driving exam may need to be rescheduled for a later point in time.

We very much appreciate your consideration and cooperation on this subject!
